Viral Environmental Surface Swab

The Viral Environmental Surface Swab is used to verify the absence of SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces after cleaning and sanitation.

This self-contained swab has a foam swab pre-moistened with Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) allowing for the simple sampling of surfaces without the need to re-clean after sampling.

The swab is activated into a vial containing buffer.  The vial and swab head are removed and capped for transport to a testing facility.  Two buffer options are available for the vial: 1) RNA/DNA Shield® stabilizes and SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid material while rendering the sample non-infectious 2) PBS buffer compatible with most PCR testing systems.   

The Viral Environmental Surface Swab is used with many RT-PCR tests to verify surfaces are clean and free of SARS-CoV2 prior to new hospital patients entering a room and employees in shared office spaces returning to work.
