Pesticides Overview

Pesticides, including herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and rodenticides, enter the food and water supply through a number of avenues. Even farmers who have chosen not to use pesticides can have traces appear in their products through the air or water runoff.

Charm CideLite is an enzyme-linked bioluminescent assay that detects organophosphate and N-methylcarbamate insecticides and their active metabolites in water, feeds, and a variety of other food products with a single 15 minute test. Using an insect esterase that is more sensitive to insecticides than acetylcholinesterase, CideLite is 100 to 1000 times more sensitive to organophosphates and n-methylcarbamates than assays using an acetylcholinesterase reaction.
