PathoGel

PathoGel is a single use, self-contained version of the ColiGel test with selective medium designed to detect coliform, E. coli and hydrogen sulfide producing enterobacteriaciae (e.g., salmonella, citrobacter) in food, beverages and waters. PathoGel contains a special “gelling” agent that allows quantitation of colony forming units as well as presence/absence determination.

EPA Method 1601 is a specified coliphage method in the Ground Water Rule. Fast Phage’s 16-hour plaque result is equivalent to Method 1601. Additional benefits of the Fast Phage method include:

Method modifications may be implemented as equivalent to Method 1601 following intra-lab validation that demonstrate detection criteria specified in Performance Based Method System EPA 1601 are met
