Fast Phage P/A
fastPhage
>> Available in kits of 25 tests

Coliphage are bacteriophage viruses that infect E. coli and coliform bacteria. They are indicators for enteric viruses analogous to using E. coli as indicators for pathogenic bacteria. In 2006, EPA added coliphage as an equivalent fecal indicator to E. coli and enterococci in the Ground Water Rule. Current bacteriological tests take 18 to 96 hours to determine a negative and current EPA methods for coliphage take 36 to 60 hours for result. Fast Phage P/A provides an 8-hour predictor for fecal contamination in water, enabling a same-day public health remediation. It is also a useful tool for industry. For example, it can be used to test irrigation waters and flume waters in fresh cut produce. drink-water

FAST PHAGE P/A AT A GLANCE
     • Same day results – less than 8 hours
     • Rapid fluorescent prediction
     • Convenient ready-to-use unit dosed reagents
     • Augment bacterial testing with coliphage viral indicator

Fast Phage P/A: A Rapid Modification of EPA Method 1601

EPA Method 1601 is a specified coliphage method in the Ground Water Rule. Fast Phage’s 16-hour plaque result is equivalent to Method 1601.

Additional benefits of the Fast Phage method include:
  • Convenient ready-to-use reagents
  • Accelerated enrichment time
  • Rapid fluorescent prediction

Method modifications may be implemented as equivalent to Method 1601 following intra-lab validation that demonstrate detection criteria specified in Performance Based Method System EPA 1601 are met.
