Charm II Novobiocin Test >> Available in kits of 20, 100, and 500 tests
The Charm II Novobiocin Test is the only commercially available rapid kit to detect novobiocin in raw commingled milk. Novobiocin is an aminocourmarin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis. It is used as a standalone drug for dairy producing animals and also in combination drugs, such as with penicillin.. The Charm II Novobiocin Test is designed for use by dairy, veterinary, laboratory and regulatory personnel.
The Charm II Novobiocin Test meet US Safe Level/Tolerance and EU MRL (maximum residue limit) for milk.
CHARM II NOVOBIOCIN TEST AT A GLANCE • Microbial Receptor Test • 8 minute assay for milk • One incubation step • Meets US Tolerance: 100 ppb • Meets EU MRL: 50 ug/kg (ppb) • 100 ppb novobiocin milk standard included with kit

The Charm II Novobiocin Test uses receptors that bind novobiocin. The binders are added to a milk sample along with an exempt amount of labeled novobiocin. Novobiocin in the milk sample competes for the binding sites with this labeled novobiocin. The amount of labeled novobiocin that binds to the receptors is measured and compared to a previously determined Control Point or to a standard curve. The greater the amount of labeled novobiocin measured, the lower the novobiocin concentration in the sample.
