Charm II Macrolide Tests

 Charm II is the only rapid testing system to detect all members of the macrolide antibiotic family in dairy, honey, meat, farmed fish, urine, serum, water, egg and feed. The test  detects macrolides and lincosamides at US Safe Levels/Tolerances and EU or CODEX MRLs (maximum residue limits) in raw commingled and pasteurized cow milk. Charm II Macrolide Tests are designed for use by dairy, veterinary, laboratory and regulatory personnel.

Charm II Macrolide Tests use a binding reagent with specific receptor sites that bind macrolide and lincosamide drugs. The binder is added to a sample along with labeled erythromycin (tracer). Any macrolide/lincosamide drugs in the sample compete for the binding sites with this tracer. The amount of tracer that binds to the receptor sites is measured and compared to a previously determined Control Point. The Control Point is the cutoff point between a negative or positive sample. The greater the amount of tracer measured, the lower the macrolide/lincosamide concentration in the sample. The smaller the amount of tracer measured, the greater the macrolide/lincosamide concentration in the sample.
