Charm II AOZ/AMOZ Nitrofuran Tests

Charm provides two Charm II Nitrofuran Tests for honey: AOZ and AMOZ. Nitrofurans are synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotics that have been used in animal, aquaculture and honey production. Nitrofurans are rapidly metabolized by bees and covalently bind with proteins or peptides.

In the US, nitrofurans have long been added to the Animal Medicinal Drug Use Clarification Act list of drugs prohibited for extra-label use in food-producing animals. Because of their carcinogenicity and mutagenicity, most other countries have adopted similar regulations.
