Charm II AOZ/AMOZ Nitrofuran Tests
Charm provides two Charm II Nitrofuran Tests for honey: AOZ and AMOZ. Nitrofurans are synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotics with antibacterial and antiprotozoan properties. Parent drugs and their metabolites have shown mutagenic and carcinogenic characteristics which has led to widespread prohibition of nitrofuran use in the treatment of animals used for food production. Charm II Nitrofuran Tests rapidly detect two nitrofuran parent drugs, furazolidone and furaltadone, and their respective key metabolites, 3-amino-2-oxazolidinone (AOZ) and 3-amino-5-morpholino-methyl-2-oxazolidinone (AMOZ). The Charm II Nitrofuran Tests help ensure avoidance of these potentially harmful drug residues in honey.
