Charm II Aminoglycoside Tests Charm provides two types of Charm II Kits to detect aminoglycoside antibiotics in dairy, honey, tissue, serum, urine, egg, water and feed. Aminoglycoside antibiotics function though the inhibition of protein synthesis in bacterial cells. The most common members include streptomycin, dihydrostreptomycin, gentamicin, neomycin, kanamycin, amikacin, tobramycin, and apramycin.
CHARM II AMINOGLYCOSIDE TESTS AT A GLANCE • Charm II Kit for gentamicin and neomycin-type aminoglycocides • Charm II Kit for streptomycin-type aminoglycocides • 10 minute assay time • No extraction for milk or urine • 15 to 60 minute extraction for non-dairy matrices

Charm II Amphenicol Tests The amphenicol family of antibiotics includes such drugs as chloramphenicol, florfenicol, and thiamphenicol. Chloramphenicol has been banned for use in food producing animals in many countries as it is known to cause aplastic anemia. Charm offers two Charm II Kits to detect chloramphenicol in milk, and several other kits for detection of amphenicols and/or chloramphenicol in honey, shrimp and other food products. These tests are designed for use by laboratory and regulatory personnel.
CHARM II AMPHENICOL TESTS AT A GLANCE • Amphenicol and Chloramphenicol kits • 15 minute assay: Sensitive to 0.1 ppb chloramphenicol in raw milk • 10 minute assay: Sensitive to 1 ppb chloramphenicol in raw milk • 30 to 60 minute extractions for non-dairy products • FDA-approved for milk

Charm II AOZ/AMOZ Nitrofuran Tests Charm provides two Charm II Nitrofuran Tests for honey: AOZ and AMOZ. Nitrofurans are synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotics with antibacterial and antiprotozoan properties. Parent drugs and their metabolites have shown mutagenic and carcinogenic characteristics which has led to widespread prohibition of nitrofuran use in the treatment of animals used for food production. Charm II Nitrofuran Tests rapidly detect two nitrofuran parent drugs, furazolidone and furaltadone, and their respective key metabolites, 3-amino-2-oxazolidinone (AOZ) and 3-amino-5-morpholino-methyl-2-oxazolidinone (AMOZ). The Charm II Nitrofuran Tests help ensure avoidance of these potentially harmful drug residues in honey.
CHARM II AOZ/AMOZ TESTS AT A GLANCE • Results in less than one hour! • 45 minute assay – including sample preparation • AOZ Test detects parent drug and metabolites • AMOZ Test detects parent drug and metabolites • Detect bound metabolites

Charm II Beta-lactam Tests Charm offers multiple Charm II Beta-lactam Tests for milk, tissue and other food products. Charm II Beta-lactam Tests are designed for use by laboratory and regulatory personnel.
CHARM II BETA-LACTAM TESTS AT A GLANCE • FDA-approved tests for raw, finished, bovine and goat milk • 8 minute beta-lactam assay for milk • 10 minute cloxacillin assay for milk • No extraction for milk • 15 to 60 minute extractions for non-dairy products • Meet global regulatory requirements

Charm II Macrolide Tests Charm II is the only rapid testing system to detect all members of the macrolide antibiotic family in dairy and other food products. Macrolide antibiotics function though the inhibition of protein synthesis in bacterial cells. The macrolide family of antibiotics includes erythromycin, pirlimycin, spiramycin, tilmicosin, tulathromycin, and tylosin. Macrolides are closely related structurally to the lincosamide family of antibiotics including lincomycin and clindamycin, and often cross-react on macrolide tests.
CHARM II MACROLIDE TESTS AT A GLANCE • Detect macrolides and lincosamides • 10 minute sequential assay • No extraction for milk • 45 to 60 minute extractions for non-dairy products • Meet global regulatory requirements

Charm II Novobiocin Test The Charm II Novobiocin Test is the only commercially available rapid kit to detect novobiocin in milk. Novobiocin is an aminocourmarin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis. It is used as a standalone drug for food producing animals and also in combination drugs, such as with penicillin.
CHARM II NOVOBIOCIN TEST AT A GLANCE • Microbial Receptor Test • 8 minute assay for milk • One incubation step • Meets US Tolerance and EU MRL

Charm II Sulfonamide Tests Charm II Sulfonamide Tests detect all members of the sulfonamide or sulfa drug family in milk, honey, tissue, and other food products. Some common sulfa drugs include sulfadimethoxine, sulfamethazine, sulfachlorpyridazine, sulfathiazole, sulfadoxine, sulfadiazine and sulfaquinoxaline. Sulfonamides are bacteriostatic antimicrobial agents that compete with folic acid synthesis in bacteria. Sulfa drugs are known to provoke allergic reactions in humans, and in the case of sulfamethazine, toxicity studies have shown follicular cell adenomas in mice.
CHARM II SULFONAMIDE TESTS AT A GLANCE • FDA-approved for milk • 10 minute assay • No extraction for milk • 15 to 60 minute extractions for non-dairy products • Multiple Matrices: Dairy, Meat Tissue, Urine, Egg, Shrimp, Farmed Fish, Feed, Serum, Urine, Water • Meet global regulatory requirements

Charm II Tetracycline Tests Charm II Tetracycline Tests detect the most common tetracyclines used in food producing animals, including oxytetracycline, tetracycline and chlortetracycline. Tetracyclines are commonly used broad-spectrum antibiotics that inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria. Tetracyclines are known to provoke allergic reactions in humans and induce microbial resistance. Administration is primarily via injectables, but also by intramammary, bolus, drinking water and in some countries, sub-therapeutic levels in feed.
CHARM II TETRACYCLINE TESTS AT A GLANCE • FDA-approved for milk • 10 to 15 minute assay • No extraction for milk • 15 to 60 minute extractions for non-dairy products • Multiple Matrices: Milk, Honey, Tissue, Feed, Egg, Water, Serum, Urine • Meet global regulatory requirements
